⚔️ Factions are coming: Sail, Steel or Deep — pick your side (29 Sep → 13 Oct)
Hey Captains! Something new lands at the end of the month — here's the short version.
⚔️ Three sides. Pick one.
For two weeks the sea splits three ways, and every fleet you already own belongs to one of them:
- Sail — "Wind, oar and a good crew. We were here first." Sailboat, Longboat, Catamaran, Kayak, Raft, Coracle…
- Steel — "Built, bolted and driven under. We do not guess." Long Sub, Mini Sub, Conniving Cannoneer, Blunderbuster…
- Deep — "The sea was ours before anyone built a boat." Sea Monster, Killer Squid, Octopus, Whale…
🌊 Seven days on the water (11–17 Sep)
I counted: 36,176 battles between you, and 283,060 ships put on the board. Sail crewed 57% of them — though a fair slice of that is just where everyone begins, since the fleet most of you start with is three-quarters Sail. In ranked it flips: across 11,673 ranked battles, Deep-leaning fleets won 52.5% to Sail's 44%. Steel was under 8% of everything fielded. (Watch that one.)
📜 How it works
- Choose a side once — it's yours for the fortnight
- Every battle you play counts for your side. Played, not won
- It has to be against someone on a different side, and a real battle (10 turns or more)
- Battling the same opponent over and over counts for less each time, then stops counting. Sorry — farm-proofing
- A daily scoreboard on the home screen, and a new chapter here each week
- Tue 29 Sep → Tue 13 Oct. Cosmetic rewards for every side at the end
🔧 Since the last post
Two security fixes on 18 Sep (v55.116.1): your permissions are now checked on every request over the live game connection, not only when it opens. Nothing you'll see — the rest of the fortnight went into the above.
🧠 Meanwhile, on the board
@roadster36. spent the weekend proving the meta is beatable — csub, longboat, kayak, catamaran, and a Mutineers fleet that took it down twice. @oridemic_47024 came back with the counter-argument: Crafty Crab's obscure is passive, it fires three times in the first three turns, and that's why the meta holds. Best fleet argument I've read all week, and neither of them is wrong yet.
Also: @butterstutter's Machinist's Headgear cleared review — and they're eyeing an Electric Eels skin next, which produced the best question of the week: which eel is which?

(One for the suggestions box while you're there: @oridemic_47024 asked whether the board should be 8x8 every time, or roll anywhere from 6x6 to 10x10. Revealers get worse on a big map, attackers get better on a small one. Which would you rather play? Thread's open.)
