BattleTabs — How to Play

Welcome to BattleTabs — the multiplayer battle game inspired by the popular board game Battleships. You can play through the extension, on Android or iOS, through the Discord Activity or on the Website.

Starting a Battle

Click on the “Start a New Battle” Button.

Select a Play Style

Pick a play style. Intense matches are played in real-time, while casual matches have long turn time and can last a few days. If you want a private battle between friends, you can select “Battle with Friends”, or “Invite anyone with Link”.

Select a Fleet

Custom Fleets

Custom fleets are able to be researched from the Research Tree. You can obtain up to three Custom Fleet Slots through the Research Tree, and an additional two with Battle Club. Custom fleets allow you to make your own fleets, and put in ships that you have unlocked.

Position Ships

Once you have selected a fleet, you can position your ships by dragging to move or clicking to flip them along a diagonal. When you are ready, click on “Ready” and the battle will start, if the other opponent is also ready.

The Boards

Your board is the one on the top left corner, and your opponent’s board is the one on the lower right corner. The first player to sink all of the other player’s units wins the battle.

When it is your turn, click on a tile to launch a normal attack.

Special Attacks and Abilities

Each ship and monster has special attacks or abilities that can help you with the battle. Hover your mouse cursor over the icons below your avatar, or the ships on your board, to learn more about each ship’s ability.

Countdown (turn times)

Casual Battles

There is a turn time in each match, with casual battles having 1 day (24 hours) for the player to attack. If the player's turn time runs out, they will automatically lose. They will also have 24 hours to choose and place their ships.

Intense Battles

In intense battles, players have 45 seconds to choose their ships and place it, with each player having 25 seconds to attack. Unlike casual battles, you can time out twice before you lose.

Trophy System

In the end of each battle, you will gain trophies, the quantity of which increases and/or decreases depending on your rank. The trophies can unlock badges that you can customize in your profile, and your rank (which ranges from 1-60) determines your avatar border.

Perks of each rank:

• Bronze: 10 trophies gained for a win 5 trophies gained for a loss

  • Unique challenges available at this rank: Hit a ship with the Octopus Miss entirely with the Sea Monster Sink 2 ships with the Kayak in the same turn

• Silver: 20 trophies gained for a win 0 trophies gained for a loss New Scene

  • Unique challenges available at this rank: Deal damage to 4 tiles in one turn Destroy 2 ships in one turn Miss all shots with the Catamaran Hit every tile with the Raft

• Gold: 30 trophies gained for a win 10 trophies deducted for a loss New scene

  • Unique challenges available at this rank: Use Longsub in a battle 5 times Last Coracle standing

• Diamond 30 trophies gained for a win 30 trophies deducted for a loss New scene

Once a player reaches the Diamond league, they are added to the Diamond Dash, a weekly competition.

When the week ends (at approximately 23:08:36 GMT) top 10% of Diamond Dash players will get a diamond, and their avatar border's number will increase by one (I.E. If the top player's border showed 60, the number will go up to 61). All Diamond Dash players' trophies are then reset to 5095.

You cannot go down a rank once you reach Diamond.

Medals

If you reach a certain amount of points you can unlock medals which other players an see and you can flex how cool you are.

- 100 points (deprecated)

Earned 100 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 500 points (deprecated)

Earned 500 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 1000 points (deprecated)

Earned 1000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- Battle clubs member

A member of the best club on earth

- 5k Points (deprecated)

earned 5,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 10k Points(deprecated)

earned 10,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 20k Points (deprecated)

earned 20,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 30k Points (deprecated)

earned 30,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 40k Points (deprecated)

earned 40,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 50k Points (deprecated)

earned 50,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 60k Points (deprecated)

earned 60,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 70k Points (deprecated)

earned 70,000 battle points

- 80k Points (deprecated)

earned 80,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 90k Points (deprecated)

earned 90,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- 100k Points (deprecated)

earned 100,000 battle points. Note, with the removal of the points system, it is no longer possible to obtain this medal.

- Daily Leaderboard Winner (deprecated)

Has come top of the daily leaderboard. Note, with the removal of the Daily Leaderboard, this medal is no long obtainable.

- Tournament Champion

Winner of a BattleTabs Tournament

- Social Butterfly

You joined the discord! Yay!
